FUNERAL READINGS: Choose a Reading

Overnight

Just when you thought
It was OK to breathe
Something went wrong

Just when you hoped
That all would be well
Sorrow moved in

Sudden death
Is different
It leaves no space
Except for shock
Shock fills the vacuum

I've walked the ways of sorrow
And I've seen the vale of tears
Where’s that disorderly laughter
That spanned our intimate years?

There has to be an end
To the long days and black nights
There must be a stop
On the journey of pain
Yet this I know
And this I promise
I’ll always find you
Again
