Remembering a Friend
To know her
Was to know a bright star
Radiance beyond
Understanding
To know her
Was to meet intellect
Charm
Naughtiness
Love
Difficulty
And energy
To know her
Was to know a mother
A wife
An adventurer
Judge, jury
Poet and sage
To know her was not easy
Not at all
She was old as the hills
Young as a toddler
‘A nasty brat’
(This always made her laugh)
Her laugh was often unexpected
Her smile dazzling
She laughed at herself
Cried for herself
Awarded kindness
And unkindness
In equal measure
Within this spirit
There was love
Massive generosity
Astonishing harmony
And sometimes
Scary discord
She loved
Unconditionally
Her life partner
Her children
And her grandchildren
To know her
Was to know the brightest star
And now that star moves on
She understood all this
So well
She knew the journey
Had studied the path of the soul
And knew the way home
