Accepting loss
Love is like death
So extreme
So beautiful
So terrible
So lovely
In the hour of darkness
I think of you
And my heart weeps
And yet in my heart
Something tells me
As life is given
So death must prevail
And this giving and taking
Exists and co-exists
Having and not having
Sitting side by side
Like companions
In love
And so I open my heart
To share my loss
And accept
And even thank
The one
That gave us
Our loved one
Whom we mourn today
For as we arrive in this world
So we must ultimately
Be given over to death
The ultimate sleep
Maybe finally
In this moment
Of shared grief
We will discover
Just how exquisite
Is love
Just how perfect
And beautiful
It can be
And its mysterious companion
Death
